If you dedicate yourself to the world,

you will be given the energy and strength

Inspiration

Sri Shakti Amma

As a child, I was fascinated by Mother Teresa; I always knew that one day God would bless me to serve the world like her! I lived my life as an ordinary girl until I met my spiritual teacher, Sri Shakti Amma, and a true blessing that was! I thank my lucky stars every day for guiding me to India to meet Amma.

Most refer to Amma as a Saint, as so many miracles occur around Amma every day, Watching Amma’s every move is quite inspiring. Once, during the rainy season, we told Amma we should fix the leak in Amma’s roof. Amma replied, “no need, some people don’t have a roof and some have not eaten today. When all the children of the world have eaten, we can fix the roof”.

Most of us have been taught to be good, to be kind and loving and others will be towards us. Being with Amma taught me to put these beautiful concepts into action. Amma says we all know we should give, but it becomes meaningful only when we actually do it. Indeed, it is in giving that we receive the most.

Amma teaches us to be patient, to love unconditionally, to forgive, to be compassionate towards all and to treat everyone the same, regardless of race, orientation, social status, religion and all other dividing labels. Amma says the trick is to see the Divine in everything and everyone. In doing that, one’s thoughts, words and actions will always be good.

Shakti Amma, thank you for “Being” who you are! Much gratitude for your patience, your continuous guidance, your unconditional love and grace.

This past year, both my parents went to Heaven. Among all the beautiful things their final chapter has taught us, one of the lessons was that you cannot take anything with you when you go. All the things they had worked so hard for were left behind. However, the one thing no one could ever touch or change was all the good deeds they had sowed during their precious time with us. More than 500 people showed up to celebrate their life when they passed, each one sharing stories of how our parents had touched their lives in a loving way.

Mom and Dad; you have lead by example in many ways. Thank you for showing us how to love, live, give, respect, be truthful, kind, caring and grateful. Thank you for your faith in us and in God!

I have been blessed with many angels in my life, and they haven’t always come in the form of Saints. If you look carefully, you will see them in your neighbours, colleagues, friends and family and if you’re lucky enough, eventually you will see them in everyone.

To all, God bless,

Love,

Lou, xo
