Meditation

Most people live a busy and stressful life. Meditation is there to help us focus, be present and clear the mind. Meditation is a great way to escape the grind of daily life. It has both mental and physical benefits, including reducing stress and anxiety, lowering blood pressure, and getting you more in tune with your body. It can even boost your immune system which is critical to living a disease free life!

Why Meditate?

Meditation is like rebooting your computer. Sometimes, life just gets crazy and the mind becomes foggy. That’s when we act out of character. Meditation can reset everything, a little like turning on and off your computer. Then, we are better at living in peace and harmony with everything around us.

What form of Meditation is best?

There are various styles of meditation that you can explore either on the internet or with a certified meditation instructor. In brief, the best form is the one that works for you. The one that make you want to practice every day!

Try different ones, explore, and stick to what works for you. With time, as your needs change, you may very well change your style. This often happens automatically, that’s why it’s important to be present and follow your inner guidance.

For example, I started by simply following my breath. I stayed with this technique for years. Four years ago, I was introduced to mantra meditation and it took me way deeper into the concentration stage. Now, I practice Metta meditation as a way of life. Truly, it doesn’t matter which style you choose. All these suggested techniques are tools to help us remain focus and present, not only on our meditation cushion but throughout the day.

Benefits of Meditation

  • Reduces stress.
  • Increases contentment, happiness, inner peace and joy in life.
  • Improves family and interrelationships.
  • Increases physical and inner strength.
  • Opens awareness to the infinite reservoir of energy, creativity, and intelligence that lies deep within everyone.
  • Cleanses and strengthens the chakras and auras (thereby makes the body on all levels stronger and more dynamic).
  • Increases mental clarity.
  • Increases intelligence and comprehension skills.

Why is meditating in groups more powerful than meditating alone?

When meditating alone, it is easier to be distracted. The mind can easily persuade the individual to get up and to do other “more important” things. This is more unlikely when meditating in a group setting. The positive energy of the group is often enough to keep the matrix in equanimity with the group’s theme focus such as: world peace, good health, love etc…

* GrandMaster Choa Kok Sui says that the increase in energy of group meditation is exponential, and a group of ten meditators are equal to 100 people meditating individually.

* Sri Shakti Amma says that only one person meditating with great focus and devotion can be equal to much larger group of seasonal meditators.
